Choose a lawyer and sign a power of attorney

We recommend the independent professional law firms that are affiliated with DreamHomes. They will help you take care of the formalities and help you with the legal purchase of your new home, such as applying for a foreign ID number and opening a Spanish bank account. A power of attorney signed at a Notary Public is important so that the lawyer will be able to do his/her work.

Choose your dream home and sign a purchase agreement

When you have found a development that you like it is time to purchase your dream home. You can use our tax calculator to work out the total of how much it will cost to buy the property, and to get an estimate of running costs. The purchase agreement is the binding agreement that regulates the deal, including a stipulation that a deposit shall be paid by the buyer for it to enter into effect. Your lawyer will explain what the agreement entails and negotiate the terms of the deal.

    Complete the purchase

To complete the purchase of your new property, you pay the outstanding amount, including charges and taxes, to your lawyer, who forwards the money to the developer. When the money is at the lawyer’s, sale’s contract and title deeds are signed at a Notary Public, which are the final documents necessary for you to be able to be registered as the new owner with the authorities. Your lawyer will then help you register as the new owner and arrange the agreements for basic services like electricity, water and waste collection.
